Kerman is a city in southeast Iran with a long history of producing finely woven rugs aimed at Western export markets. The style is immediately recognizable — soft palettes, open fields, and elaborate floral compositions that feel painterly rather than geometric.
This example has an ivory field with a central vase composition, from which cascading floral sprays branch symmetrically outward in every direction. Roses, blossoms, and leafy vines fill the field densely without feeling cluttered, the bilateral symmetry keeping everything balanced. The wide border carries a continuous floral scroll on a dusty blue ground, framed by narrow guard borders in rose and ivory.
The palette is distinctly Kerman — warm ivory, dusty blue, soft rose, muted gold, and olive green. The colours are gentle and work easily in a variety of interiors, which is part of what has always made Kerman rugs appealing to a broad audience.
